Celebration with local authorities, business partners and employees
Nunhems has a new home in Beijing, China
Beijing (China).Last Wednesday, July 14, Nunhems officially inaugurated its new facilities in the Economic Technological Development Area in Bejing.
During the opening ceremony, gentlemen from right: Wang Xiaoming (Manager of Investment & Development Center of CNSGC), Ding Xiaosong (Head of Beijing Seeds Trade Association), Douwe Zjip (Nunhems CEO) and Peter Gent (Head of BPA BCS China).
The new facilities comprise offices, a new and extended warehouse, as well as an area for the processing of vegetable seeds. Representatives from the local authorities, customers and employees attended the ceremony.
“Asia Pacific represents an important market for Nunhems’ global business. With a vegetable consumption that is three times as high as world average, China is one of the major drivers of our company’s dynamic growth in this region,” said Douwe Zijp, Nunhems’ CEO, during the opening ceremony. Nunhems’ local activities allow the company to further improve its product portfolio and develop vegetable seed varieties that benefit growers throughout China’s diverse growing regions.

Located in Yizhuang, the southeast suburb of Beijing, with the Jingjintang Expressway and the Beijing–Tianjin Intercity Rail nearby, the new facilities are very well connected and located in the same neighborhood of renowned pharmaceutical, information technology, mechanic and electronic companies.
Nunhems has been present in China since 1997 when it purchased Sunseeds and with it, Asia Sunseeds Co. Ltd. The company that was later renamed into Nunhems Beijing Seeds Co. Ltd., has grown significantly over the past decade. Today, Nunhems employs some 70 people in China. Next to its head office in Beijing, the company has breeding stations in Shouguang (Shandong Province) and Nanning (Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region), a production farm in Yumen (Gansu Province), and a sales office in Chengdu (Sichuan Province).
