Extremely high production in data-driven cucumber greenhouse BASF 's Gravenzande
Nunhem, 26 September 2022 - On 16 November 2021, the first high-wire cucumber crop was planted in the data-driven greenhouse of BASF's vegetable seed business in 's Gravenzande. The greenhouse was equipped with about 340 umol LED lights from Signify. The second and third crops were planted on 2 March 2022 and 15 June 2022, respectively.

BASF to launch new tomato seed varieties resistant to ToBRFV
Nunhem, the Netherlands, February 21, 2023 – From the early start of the Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus (ToBRFV) outbreak, BASF has actively sought and offered solutions to growers in battling this virus. Besides of providing seed varieties since 2020, new launchings resistant to ToBRFV are being tested to become commercial in 2023 that will cover growers’ and market needs even better.

BASF’s vegetable seeds business closes acquisition of melon breeding company ASL
Nunhem, the Netherlands, January 31, 2023 - Today BASF’s vegetable seeds business and ASL, one of the most innovative melon breeding companies in the world, completed the acquisition of ASL by BASF. Before starting to work out the details of the acquisition, the two companies had already been working together successfully for more than three decades.

BASF to invest in its aroma ingredients business by expanding its global production footprint with new plants in China and Germany
Ludwigshafen, Germany – Today, BASF announced its investment in a new citral plant as part of its Verbund site in Zhanjiang, China, and menthol and linalool downstream plants at its Verbund site in Ludwigshafen, Germany. These plants are expected to come on stream from 2026 onwards. The investment is driven by a growing demand from the global flavor and fragrance market and BASF’s strong commitment to sustainability transformation.

Dr. Ketan Joshi (44), Senior Vice President, Petrochemicals Asia Pacific, BASF East Asia Regional Headquarters Ltd., Hong Kong, will, as President, assume responsibility for the Intermediates Division in Ludwigshafen, Germany, effective March 1, 2023
