Health and sustainability are behind the Nunhems movement for a better future

BASF Vegetable Seeds took part in Fruit Attraction (Spain) with the aim of involving every link in the chain in the promotion of healthy eating habits, helping to improve people’s quality of life and protect the environment.

Did you know that some 500 million people around the world eat a product that started from a Nunhems seed every day? “We make it possible for people to eat in a healthy way”, said Francisco Solera, Country Sales Manager Iberia for BASF Vegetable Seeds. And this is precisely the message that BASF wanted to convey during its participation in the most recent edition of Fruit Attraction, which was held in Madrid on 22-24 October.

Under the slogan ‘Join the movement for a better future’, BASF highlighted the possibilities offered by solutions to address the demands of today’s consumers, who are concerned about their health and the impact of agricultural production on the environment. “If we produce fruit and vegetables and promote their consumption, we are also contributing to the sustainability of the planet”, reiterated Solera.

BASF offers solutions whose properties and health benefits are passed on to consumers, thus promoting ‘Enjoyable eating’ – healthy foods that not only foster well-being but are also sustainable. During the trade fair, visitors to the company’s stand enjoyed a series of dishes based on fruit and vegetables, such as cucumber, spinach and kiwi smoothies, watermelon with 85% dark chocolate, or peppercorn and egg paté on toast, among many others, all served in recycled packaging in line with the sustainability of their production.

BASF demonstrated how to increase the daily intake of fruit and vegetables by proposing delicious, healthy recipes. Indeed, there are six occasions during the day that offer the opportunity to eat these products, and times like breakfast offer huge growth potential, especially because only 4% of the fruit and vegetables we eat in the morning.

To make the ‘movement for a better future’ a reality, it is necessary to seek the collaboration of every link in the agri-food chain, especially at a time like this when production decisions are being taken across the whole chain. “Seed companies, producers, distributors... all of us help to provide the world with healthy food and improve the sustainability of the planet,” concludes Solera.

As far as BASF is concerned, the time has come to unite forces for a better future – will you join us?
