Armour - Taking the Market by Storm

The year was 2014 when the impact of the Leaf Curl Virus was felt across the country. Farmers from different parts of the country complained of low yield & profits. The need for a new variety was imminent. At a time when the losses were mounting for both farmers & traders, the R&D team at Nunhems decided to step up to the task & offer a profound solution.

With extensive inputs from the breeding community, the R&D team of Nunhems introduced Armour. It was tested in the Indore, Guntur, Warangal, Nashik & Nagpur markets—the major hotspots for chilli cultivation in India.

Armour passed the test with flying colours! With an ASTA value of 80-90 and 70000-75000 SHU (Pungency), semi-erect plant structure, high pungency level & intermediate resistance to the Leaf Curl Virus, Armour was well suited for dry & fresh chilli cultivation. The team also observed that the pungency level of Armour remains intact & the colour retention capacity was excellent over the period of time in cold storage.

The findings were shared with value chain customers. Armour's unique input & output qualities earned the trust of the farmers & traders. Soon after its commercial launch in 2019, Armour took the market by storm!
